As all moms do before the start of school I took the boy for his annual you’re getting your hair cut the way I want it cut and that’s final hair cut. I only make him do it once a year. You can see he’s thrilled.
Well, at the haircut I was sternly admonished by the stylist for how dry and brittle I had allowed his hair to become. (I hope she’s not on the mother of the year committee!) After a summer of daily swimming, sweating, football helmets, etc. his hair had in fact looked better. She suggested some products, however, the chemicals in them made me a little worried.
I remembered that I had met a woman earlier in the year who was working on a new hair care line that was all natural and that they’d have products for hair like our little biracial babies. I reached out to her with my concerns and she sent me the most thoughtful email back.
Briogeo has just the solution! And thanks for asking me. Believe it or not— I’ve gotten this question a few times over the past couple of months. For the dryness, it is crucial that you use a deep hydrating mask on your children’s hair at least 2x per month. Our Don’t Despair, Repair! mask is fortified with a unique complex sweet almond, avocado, rosehip fruit, and argan oil to help restore moisture and hydration levels to the hair. I would recommend using this product on your children’s hair 2x per month — letting it penetrate for 15 minutes using a plastic shower cap over their hair to lock in the moisture before rinsing. Also note, you don’t need to rinse the treatment out 100%. Lightly rinse it so that a little is left behind as a leave in.
In between using the deep treatment mask, I recommend using the Curl Charisma conditioner to help reduce frizz and enhance the shine and curl formation of the hair. So this product can be used as a regular conditioner in between treatments.
As far as shampoo is concerned — for very dry hair we often recommend only shampooing once per week to remove build up and in between you can rinse the hair with warm water and condition. Too much shampooing for extremely dry and curly hair can intensify the problem. Shampooing once per week with our Be Gentle, Be Kind shampoo is ideal as it is sulfate free and won’t create the drying effects that most shampoos containing sulfates will.
Though my products are currently being retailed on briogeohair.com — we’ve just partnered with CurlMart.com‘s textured hair e-commerce site and our products will be featured there starting next week. So if you are interested in placing an order, I will let you know as soon as the CurlMart.com
Let me know if you have any additional questions and I really think these products will work wonders for your children’s hair. You can also check out our how to product tutorials at YouTube.com/Briogeo.
Well, I never knew ANY of that. I had been shampooing multiple times per week. OOPS, my bad.
So, when Briogeo Hair went live on CurlMart I made our first order. Shipping was free and arrived quickly. Let me tell you, I wish this computer had smell-o-vision. It smells divine. And better yet, it works wonders. The Boys hair finally feels soft and gentle again. I can twirl his little curls around my fingers like when he was a baby before we shaved his head for the first time.
The Diva, oh the drama of the Diva’s hair. For the first time EVER her hair feels soft, curls bouncy and not frizzy. I had been spraying a leave in conditioner on her hair daily to keep it tamed and it was making her hair feel sticky and like it had a thick coating on it. Besides to de-tangle some curls post bath last night I haven’t needed that product at all. Miracle is not too strong of a word here. (I’m sorry, she was not able to stand still for the photography needed to show you the detail.)
We’ve been using the product for two weeks. I know my friend said to use the Don’t Despair, Repair! mask two times per month, but I felt like their hair was in a state that they needed it once per week. So, two washes with the Be Gentle, Be Kind shampoo, two masks and rinses in between and their hair seems ‘cured’ to us. DOC and I both notice the difference and can’t believe how a hair product can make such a difference. Even when The Diva woke up this morning, her hair bounced right up and I was able to style it without any drama. Seriously. MIRACLES DO HAPPEN, PEOPLE!
I strongly encourage you to try these products if you or your children are suffering from dry, brittle hair, if your hair is in need of repair and if you’re ready to start using some products that treat your hair and the earth a little more kindly. I haven’t yet used the volumizing conditioner on my hair, I wanted to see if the products worked on the kids first, but when I’m out of my shampoo, this is the product I’ll be using for the entire family from now on.
I paid for Briogeo out of my own pocket and received no compensation for this review, I really just dig it THIS MUCH!
