Well, it was a crazy three months at the Carter house. And it’s finally kind of over. For those of you that don’t know us personally it was kind of a stressful twelve weeks at our house.
Let us resume regular scheduled programming, please. For at least a little bit? PLEASE.
How about this year I give up stress for Lent? Wouldn’t THAT be something?
What’s that you say?
That’s what Lent is all about?
Giving something over to God? Lent is a season of conversion: where we acknowledge the ways we have turned away from God in our lives and we focus on turning our hearts and minds back towards God. By giving up something and spending the month in prayer it helps us turn away from whatever has distracted us and to turn back to God. Lent is a time to turn back to God and towards what God wants for us in our lives. (Thank you http://bustedhalo.com/questionbox/why-do-we-give-up-something-for-lent for that description!)
So while I am not actually giving up something for Lent (and I’m not actually Catholic either, so there’s THAT) what I am giving up is the belief that I am in control of anything in my life. This is a time to remember that. The last twelve weeks have been a strong reminder that I must stop being such a control freak and give over my stress to God.
Sparkle On, people, Sparkle On.

Praying for you and your sparkle, too.
thanks, Wendy!
Wow, that’s an excellent idea. I’m constantly struggling with control freakdom!
Last year, a friend of mine gave up NOT exercising. I kinda liked that, too.
I hope you’re able to find some calm in the coming weeks!
Thanks, Kim! That is a great idea.
Good luck with that whole Control Freak thing
(aka, My daily struggle).
